In my 27 years of education experience, I can honestly say that I have not seen a better Special Education teacher than Elaine Chergosky. To begin, she has positive relationships with students, parents and staff. Her calm, patient demeanor is an asset which allows her to work well with all facets of people and children. She is a good listener and seeks information and clarification to always further her understanding in all situations.

Elaine is exhaustingly thorough and has high expectations for all students. She is a teacher of the highest degree. She has had to employ all of her knowledge and skill to effectively manage curriculum and instruction at all grade levels in addition to navigating the personalities of each grade level team. Her obvious competence wins over even the most critical jury.

Ms. Chergosky was a purposeful and well organized teacher who committed herself to the students in the school and community in which she served.

We cannot say enough about Elaine, her skills, and her love for children and young people. Elaine was able to connect with Drew and help him focus on learning. In spite of Andrew's difficulties, he loved being with Elaine, and most days would work hard for her. She was very flexible and patient, especially on those days that he would not get up to be to school on time, or would lose interest and fall asleep when he was suppose to be completing school work.

Elaine met the challenges for both of our children -- enhancing the curriculum for one and modifying it for the other -- so that they found school and learning a positive and rewarding experience.
